Dalton Police officers use their CPR training on victim
DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – The Dalton Police Department is praising three officers for treating an unconscious man.
Dexter Kapur, Woody Cantrell and Blake Edwards were the first responders on the scene for a call about the 65 year old on the ground at the North Georgia Fairgrounds on Tuesday Night.
He had stopped breathing.
Officer Kapur immediately began to give him chest compressions.
Sergeant Cantrell set up an Automated External Defibrillator.
The AED analyzed the patient’s vitals and advised that he needed a shock.
Sergeant Cantrell gave it to him.
After the shock, the patient began gasping for air, which Officer Edwards delivered with a CPR mask, while Officer Kapur resumed the chest compressions.
They continued the CPR until paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.
CPR is part of the training that all officers must renew every two years.
