Dalton Soccer Beats Pope to Advance to State Title Game

Dalton, GA-(WDEF-TV) The Dalton soccer team advanced to the state championship game beating Pope 6-1 on Tuesday evening at Harmon Field in Dalton. Omar Hernandez scored the first goal of the match as the Catamounts enjoyed a 1-0 lead at halftime. Early in the second half, Tony Saldana had a free kick. His shot bounced off the keeper, and Damian Rodriguez got the put-back to make it 2-0. Pope scored moments later to make it 2-1, but then Dalton answered quickly on a goal from Nathan Rincon to make it 3-1. Dalton added three more goals for the final victory margin.
