Dalton Stops Providing Regeneron Treatment

Dalton, GA (WDEF) – Dalton can no longer offer free Regeneron treatment to anyone with active COVID and symptoms.

Earlier this fall, Dalton made headlines as one of the only cities in the country to offer the service for free using city funds. People drove from all over the region for the treatment. Several factors have now made that impossible.

Bruce Frazier, Communications Director for Dalton, said, “We’re no longer offering the monoclonal antibody treatment because it was getting harder and harder to get the supply from the federal government. The other thing is the current strain, the omicron variant, the treatment we have is not as effective against that variant.”

Frazier says the government is now producing the treatment in pill form, and they hope to receive supplies of that.
