Day of Hope Brings Support and Resources

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) — Today, the Lifestyle Center of Benton welcomed community members for a ‘Day of Hope’ event, part of a statewide effort to support those struggling with mental health and substance use challenges.

The event featured interactive stations, overdose prevention training, and resources to promote healing and resilience.

Tennessee’s annual Day of Hope, now in its sixth year, was launched by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to highlight the power of hope in overcoming adversity.

The initiative has grown each year, drawing support from faith-based organizations, peer specialists, and prevention coalitions across the state.

“I have experience with both substance use disorder and mental illness and I think that just taking that first step and asking for help is the best thing to do because there are people out there who wanna help you, I promise,” said Kate Parsons, the Southeast Tennessee face coordinator with the Hamilton County Coalition.

The event emphasized the importance of connecting people with resources and support systems that can make a difference.

In addition to educational opportunities, attendees were encouraged to reach out to local organizations for help in their recovery journey.

Their goal was not only to provide resources but also to create a supportive environment where people feel encouraged to seek help.

With events like the Day of Hope, Tennessee continues to build a community of support for those facing the challenges of mental health and substance use, proving that recovery is possible with the right help and a little bit of hope.
