Dayton greenway project falls apart, for now
DAYTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Dayton Greenway Project has ground to a halt, at least for the next year.
The Herald News reports that City Manager Tom Solomon announced on Monday that they were temporarily pulling the plug on the project.
There are a couple of problems.
City leaders found that some of the Greenway property under the bridges wasn’t really covered by a TVA lease.
TVA officials say it will take another year, at least, to get all the property included.
Secondly, the price of the project went over a grant they landed to pay for it.
So the decision to cancel will allow the city to re-apply for the grant and to also find more funding to pay for it all.
The city has been working on the Greenway Project for several years.
