DeKalb County Attempted Murder Arrest

Fort Payne, AL (WDEF) DeKalb County Deputies arrest a man for attempted murder and discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling.

Officials say 46-year-old Dewey Lee Parris of Crossville came to the victim Gregory Britt’s residence on Hwy 75 asking for him to take him to the beer store.

Britt refused and says they started arguing.

He says Parris hit him in the head and face with a gun and held him against his will for an hour and a half.

Britt says he escaped, and Parris shot him in the hip while he was running away.

Officials also say Parris hit a camper next to Britt’s home that had two people inside.

They weren’t hurt.

Parris fled, but law enforcement later caught up with him.

He refused to talk; saying only it was self-defense.

He remains in jail.

Britt was treated and released from the hospital.
