DeKalb Sheriff’s Deputy involved in wreck

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says one of their deputies was involved in a car accident late Sunday night.

Officials say the deputy was on Alabama Highway 68 when another vehicle tried to pass a truck, hit the deputy head on, spun around, and hit another vehicle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

The Sheriff’s Office says the other two drivers were okay.

In a press release, DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said, “It is always scary to get a phone call late at night about one of our Deputies being in an accident. We are just so glad that everyone walked away from the accident and is doing ok.”
