Deputies chase suspect who sped through a police shooting scene

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Just minutes after a police shooting in Brainerd, Hamilton County officers chased a suspect through the shooting scene.

A deputy tried to stop a gold Chevrolet Cruz on Wilcox Boulevard, saying it went through the center lane, passing stopped vehicles.

The vehicle fled toward Highway 153.

Deputies say it swerved towards a detective heading to the Chattanooga Police shooting scene, almost hitting him head-on.

Then they say the vehicle hit two others.

One person was injured with minor injuries.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries from the crash.

35 year old Brandon Smith already has multiple warrants out for him.

But he now faces new charges of Reckless Driving, Felony Evading, multip counts of Aggravated Assault, Driving on Revoked License, and Retaliation for Past Action on Law Enforcement.
