Deputies say they found a drunk man trying to steal a pickup on Sand Mountain

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – The Sheriff in DeKalb County reports that officers were able to foil a stolen vehicle attempt this week.

They got the call on Wednesday to a home on county road 370 in the Kilpatrick community on Sand Mountain.

When they arrived, they found 47 year old David Michael Holcomb inside the truck.

The truck was damaged on the inside and they say Holcomb was drunk.

The Sheriff says it took a brief struggle to get him out and place him under arrest.

Holcomb faces charges of Public Lewdness, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication, and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.

Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “We would like to thank Crossville Police Department for their assistance at the scene. The quick response by both agencies helped to bring this case to a close.”
