Possible Aryan Brotherhood Ties To Bar Killing
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – A U.S. Veteran was killed early Monday morning at Rumors Bar after being stabbed in the chest by another bar goer. And now police say, there’s an all out manhunt to find his killer.
“Shawn didn’t really notice at first that he was stabbed,” said bartender Danielle Harvey.
36-year-old Shawn Russell is was murdered by a man who is on the run.
According to the bar manager, Russell and his girlfriend were sitting at a table when another man started yelling obscenities about a clover on Russell’s shirt.
“He got on top of him, and was punching him. Then, we got ’em apart, and then he went back for more, and I guess that’s when he got stabbed on his left side.”
Bar goers say Russell got up, ran for the backdoor, and collapsed before taking his last breath.
“That’s when I noticed all the blood. He look at me and he goes, ‘he just stabbed me.’ And I was like, ‘please don’t die, please don’t die.'”
According to the police, the man who stabbed Russell ran out of the bar, but not before someone wrote down his license plate.
The bar is surrounded in security cameras; the entire killing caught on film.
Police tell News 12 they don’t know how many people they’re looking for, but our sources confirm that one of the men is described as a white guy with swastikas painted all over his body, and a shaved head; signs typically associated with the Aryan Brotherhood; described by the FBI as a violent white supremacist gang.
“He [the killer] kept yelling that he was AB.”
The bartender says Russell’s shamrock on his shirt was what most of the fight was about. According to the FBI, shamrocks are commonly used by the Aryan Brotherhood.
Sources on the police department say it’s just a matter of time before they find the killer because multiple people were inside the bar when the murder happened. Sources say police are in the process of picking the killer out of a lineup, and it’s just a matter of time before they take him into custody.
