Developers give update on South Broad Stadium construction

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Developers say the construction of the South Broad Stadium has reached a milestone.

Around 78,000 tons of soil has been moved to create the bowl that eventually will host the baseball field.

This, developers say, is happening on schedule and within the budget.

They say that ongoing crushing of the concrete that once filled the site is still ongoing, and testing of the soil underneath will be occurring.

City engineer Billy Payne says while things are smooth so far, they are on edge for any potential setbacks.

“There’s certainly a lot of potential for those things, so we’ve gotta, you know, the team is talking about those things on a daily basis, multiple times a day to be able to work through that. There’s nothing glaring that has jumped out so far that causes us any significant concerns,” said Payne.

The stadium is expected to be completed in time for the first pitch of the 2026 Chattanooga Lookouts season.
