Dogs rescued in Louisiana are coming to McKamey Animal Shelter

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – Dogs that have been rescued from one of the biggest natural disasters in Louisiana since Hurricane Katrina are coming to Tennessee.

McKamey Animal Shelter Director Jamie McAloon has confirmed to News 12 that many dogs that were rescued from the flooding in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas are already in route to Tennessee.

The National Humane Association in Nashville will receive a good number of dogs and McKamey will receive at least six. Three of those six are heartworm positive so they will have to undergo treatment once they arrive.

All six dogs will arrive on Friday.

The goal is to eventually adopt out the animals to new owners.

According to published reports, other dogs that have been displaced by the deadly flooding have been transported to a shelter in Tampa Florida.
