Donor Awareness Month

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)- A "donate life" flag was raised today at Erlanger Medical Center to recognize the 35 patients who gave organ donations in 2014.

These 35 people have managed to save 123 lives because of their donations. Thousands of hospitals across the nation joined Erlanger in raising the flag for Donor Awareness month.
Many organ recipients gathered at today’s event to give thanks for donors.
Paula Palmer, a kidney donor recipient, says, "everyday is a new day for me, I mean it’s just a wonderful experience to be able to get up and go to work, enjoy life. I suffered for awhile with my kidney disease and it is amazing the difference of how I feel now and how I felt them."

Paula Boring is an active supporter of Donate Life Tennessee since her son, Kainen, passed away and became an organ donor at Erlanger on September 16, 2011. Kainen was 17-years-old and a football player for Bledsoe County High School when he died. Paula will share his story and encourage others to pass on the gift of life through donation.
