Early morning vehicle fire, crash on I-75 leaves two injured
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a vehicle fire on I-75 early Thursday morning.
At 5:10 a.m., March 13, 2025, deputies responded to a vehicle fire in the 15000 block of I-75 South.
The vehicle fire involved a truck towing a car carrier.
The truck had pulled into the overlook after seeing smoke coming from the vehicle.
According to HCSO, while the driver was trying to find the source of the smoke, the vehicle rolled forward, hitting a parked semi-truck.
The fire quickly spread to the semi-truck, leaving both vehicles engulfed in flames.
Further investigation revealed a driver traveling southbound was distracted by the incident and crashed into another vehicle.
The crash caused the second vehicle to leave the roadway and hit a parked 18-wheeler at the overlook.
Both drivers sustained injuries from the crash.
One was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
All lanes were reopened by 7:30 a.m.
