East Hamilton Middle School faces social media threat

UPDATE:

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says they have filed charges against a juvenile for making a social media threat toward East Hamilton Middle School.

The threat happened on Thursday.

On Friday, the SRO and detectives charged one student with threat of mass violence on school property and false reports.

“The HCSO takes all threats against our schools seriously and works diligently to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and school staff across Hamilton County,” the sheriff’s office stated.

Authorities have not identified the suspect due to them being a juvenile.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — East Hamilton Middle School faced another scare Thursday morning from a school threat.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the threat posted on social media.

Deputies were at the school Thursday morning as a precaution.

Teachers told News 12 that the school alerted parents not to drop off their children. Additionally, the students already at the school were taken to the gym.

Law enforcement then spoke to school staff and students about the threats.
