Chattanooga Police identify East Lake murder victim
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Just days after law enforcement officials testified in court about the need to declare East Lake a safety zone from gang and gun violence, a woman is shot to death.
25-year-old LaRhonda Spence was shot to death Wednesday night at a home on 7th Avenue.
A Neighbor who asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation tells News 12 that around 8:00 p.m., two people were arguing so loudly he called 911.
While on the phone with the 911 operator, he said he heard gun shots and then saw a dark colored car speed away.
Spence was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
Given the location of this incident, News12 asked investigators if the shooting was gang related.
Lt. Glenn Scruggs of the Chattanooga Police Department said, “It does not appear to be gang motivated. We’re looking for several persons of interest that are gang members, but this shooting itself does not appear to be gang motivated.”
Police are looking for 20-year-old Chaztus Whaley and 28-year-old Eurica Leslie for this shooting.
