East Ridge couple shows Christmas spirit with gift giveaway
Gifts are available for adults and children; gift donations are also welcome
Christmas is only eight days away, and some might find it hard to find or even afford gifts this holiday season. One couple in East Ridge wants you to know that help isn’t far away.
At the corner of McBrien Road and Lazard Street in East Ridge lies some Christmas spirit. Michael Sivels and his wife, Tina, put out a Christmas tree … with gifts for anyone who just needs a little help during the holiday season.
Sivels: “Everything is expensive now, and we don’t have a lot of money ourselves, but we saw that we were able to give back, so that’s what we done. We gave back.”
It didn’t take long for us to see that Christmas spirit find a neighbor. This woman drove up and needed gifts for her five children. The presents – already wrapped – are free for anyone to take, and it warms the hearts of the couple behind the generosity.
Sivels: “I feel the love from everybody. Everybody that passes by that stops, they congratulate us and everything. You know… so… I feel the love.”
Even Sivels’ neighbors get into the spirit…
Van Price: “I’ve seen multiple, multiple vehicles stop with children in the back, and the kids get whatever it is they get, and it’s just the smiles and the laughter, and everything just … I sit on my front porch and watch, and – I’m not gonna lie – I tear up. I mean … It’s beautiful!”
That is what the Christmas spirit is all about.
