Elder Abused in East Ridge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- An elderly woman is recovering tonight, after East Ridge Police discovered her living in unthinkable conditions.

The two teens who were allegedly living with her at the time, are now facing abuse charges, but this isn’t their first run-in with the law.

Seth and Stormy Duff, both 19-years-old, are facing several charges including possession, evading arrest and willful abuse, or neglect of an adult.

And now that adult protective services is involved with this investigation, officials tell me even more charges could be added in the future.

This is the home, on Lazard Street, that East Ridge police were called to Wednesday evening, after receiving an anonymous tip involving elderly abuse.

“The officers checked the house for the well-being of the occupant and found a elderly female, a bed covered in feces and urine. She hadn’t been fed in several days, she hadn’t been given any water or anything to drink for several days. There were dead animals in the house, uh the house was subsequently condemned.”

Captain Tim Mullinax, says officers also found drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the house.

The victim was quickly taken to the hospital for her injuries, while 19-year-old Seth, and Stormy Duff were immediately arrested due to both having verified warrants in East Ridge.

“We have had prior history with the young couple, uh there’s been some custodial issues, with a child but this is the first time with the adult.”

Both teens were arrested back in June, after a domestic disorder turned into a SWAT standoff.

During this incident, Seth threatened officers with a gun, before locking himself in the same house, with the elderly woman and this time an infant.

He later surrendered, and the two teens were charged with assault on police, and resisting arrest.

Captain Mullinax says the baby now lives with its maternal grandmother.

The victim’s condition, is still unknown, but officials say it isn’t critical.
