East Ridge mom accused of abusing child with a hot knife

EAST RIDGE, Tennessee(WDEF) – An East Ridge couple is facing one count of aggravated child abuse that left a teenage girl burned and bruised.

According to the arrest affidavit, the alleged abuse occurred on December 1st and December 6th.

Victor Escandon and his wife, Micaela Paiz are both accused of abusing Paiz’s daughter.

    

East Ridge Police were called to East Ridge High School where the juvenile filed the complaint.

According to the arrest affidavit, Paiz got so mad with her teenage daughter that she reportedly heated up a knife on the kitchen stove and burned her daughter’s lip and hand.

Escandon is accused of beating the girl with a belt multiple times.

Police found burns and bruises on the girl’s body.

According to police, immigration officers had to identify Escandon after he reportedly gave them he was Miguel Jacinto.
