East Ridge Police Investigate Instagram Post

East Ridge, TN (WDEF) – On Saturday, February 17th, East Ridge Police were contacted by multiple students and parents of East Ridge High School about a fellow student’s Instagram post they perceived as threatening in nature.

Officers made contact with the student at his residence. The student advised his post was not meant to be threatening, but instead to show support for the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

Police report the student was apologetic that the statements had been misconstrued, but understanding of how the comments could be taken out of context due to recent national events.

Law Enforcement believes that no credible threat currently exists from this situation.

East Ridge Police, along with the Rossville Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and Hamilton County Department of Education, will follow up with the student when school resumes.
