East Ridge Police Officer involved in serious crash on Ringgold Road

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – East Ridge Police Department advises the public to stay clear of the 5300-5400 block of Ringgold Road Tuesday morning due to an ERPD office involved car crash.

Tennessee Highway Patrol has been called to the scene.

According to ERPD, a nightshift patrol spotted an erratic driver southbound on McBrien Road.

The sergeant radioed other units about the driver.

A few moments later, that driver entered the intersection with an East Ridge Officer on Ringgold Road, striking his vehicle and causing the patrol unit to roll.

The officer had to be extricated by East Ridge Fire and is at a hospital in stable condition.

The other driver was also transported to a hospital after being ejected from their vehicle.

The area will be under investigation and there may be lane closures.
