East Tennessee drug operation nets a Dalton suspect
39 people indicted in 2 year operation into a violent drug organization
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A two year undercover drug operation in East Tennessee nets one suspect from Dalton.
The TBI and several agencies in the Knoxville area have been conducting the investigation since March of 2020.
They were targeting a violent drug trafficking organization with ties to three states.
They have indicted 39 people and seized large amount of drugs that they say were supplied from individuals in Indiana and Georgia.
The indictments came in December.
So far they have arrested 28 people.
One of those is Zachary Austin Manis from Dalton.
He faces a charge of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Sell, Deliver, or Manufacture 300 grams or more of Methamphetamine.
“This operation is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when agencies work together,” said TBI Director David Rausch. “These dangerous drugs and the violence fueled by those dealing them is having a devastating impact on Knoxville and other areas in East Tennessee. That’s why we have a lot more work to do and will continue to target drug traffickers in our state.”
