Easter morning Chattanooga house fire
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Witness reports of a house fire on Easter morning led to an extended response from the Chattanooga Fire Department and other agencies.
At 8:30 AM first responders were called to the 2700 block of Shepherd View Drive, located near Tyner Road behind Bess T. Shepherd Elementary School.
When firefighters arrived, they found half of the house completely engulfed in flames.
Crews immediately launched a defensive attack to knock back the fire before moving inside to continue battling the flames and search the structure.
Fortunately, no one was found inside.
The fire was difficult to fight due to the large number of items inside and around the home, including tires, vehicles, a boat, and various debris. Crews stayed on scene for several hours working to fully put out the fire.
Public Works brought in heavy equipment to tear down the unstable parts of the home, allowing firefighters to better target the remaining hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
