Electric Crews Answer Extra Call
SEQUACHEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – After completing power restorations in their own service area Sunday evening, crews from Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative answered a request for help from other electric cooperatives across Middle Tennessee.
Recent winter weather caused damage throughout parts of Middle Tennessee, where freezing rain and ice weighed down trees and power lines.
Falling limbs and downed lines led to scattered outages, slowing restoration efforts in some areas as crews worked through hazardous conditions.
SVEC officials say once local power was restored, they were asked if crews could assist with restoration efforts elsewhere in the state.
10 SVEC employees volunteered and traveled to Middle Tennessee to help crews still working to repair storm-related damage and restore electricity.
Electric cooperatives across Tennessee regularly assist one another during major weather events, sharing crews and resources to help speed up recovery.
SVEC says safety remains the top priority as crews continue working long hours in affected areas.
