Electric Vehicle Festival Showcase Many Types of Electric Vehicles

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Electric vehicle enthusiasts gathered on Chattanooga’s west side today for a showcase of any kind of electric vehicle you can think of.

The inaugural Chattanooga Drive Electric Festival was hosted by the Drive Electric Scenic City organization.

Their goal is to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the Chattanooga area.

There was everything from electric cars, trucks, ATVs, buses, and bikes on display.

Drive Electric Scenic City is a part of a larger statewide organization, Drive Electric Tennessee.

Dave Graham, coordinator for Drive Electric Scenic City, said that, “(Drive Electric Tennessee’s) goal is to elevate and promote and celebrate electric vehicles to the public across the state and Drive Electric Scenic City does that in the greater Chattanooga area which goes into Georgia a little bit. But their goal is to get 200,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2028. And right now we have a little over 20,000. So in ten years we have to tenfold increase that.”

The 20,000 electric vehicles on the road now in Tennessee is a 20 fold increase from just a decade ago.

Graham passionately encourages anyone looking at new vehicles to consider going electric.

He said to, “Give it a test drive.” and that you can pre order with the option of cancelling later if the vehicle does not meet your needs. However, he wants potential buyers to know that if they give it a shot, they will love going electric.

Drive Electric Scenic City plans to host and be involved in more events in the area, to get involved with the organization, visit their website at https://www.driveelectricsceniccity.org/.
