Emily’s List of Weekend Activities – August 18, 2017

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — There’s a lot to do in Chattanooga, and in nearby cities this weekend.

A Nashville indie rock band is performing here in the Scenic City Friday night.

Moon Taxi has three albums under its belt, and has previously been featured on various TV and late night shows.

The group is playing at the Tivoli Theatre at 8 p.m.

Another option for live music Friday night is the Live Jazz and Soul Music Series at Memo’s Grill.

Local saxophonist and singer, Tyler ‘Maestro’ Lackey, and his crew, Maestro Music, will be performing.

The show starts at 8:30 p.m., and is free.

Many high school football games may be Friday night, but the pros will duke it out on Saturday.

It’s preseason week 2, when the Tennessee Titans take on the Carolina Panthers at home in Nashville.

It’s the Titans’ first home opener, and the first of two straight games at Nissan Stadium.

Kickoff starts at 2 p.m. Central Time.

If football’s not your thing, you can always check out the Piedmont Park Arts Festival in Atlanta.

It’s been named as one of the Top 100 Arts Festivals in the Nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine.

The two-day festival will be held at Atlanta’s largest park, and features more than 200 painters, photographers, jewelers, and other artists.

You can check out live acoustic music, and artist demonstrations.

The event runs most of the day Saturday and Sunday.

With football season here, you get a chance to tailgate at the Chattanooga Market this Sunday.

You can shop football food like fresh breads, dips, salsa, and more.

You’ll also get a chance to meet some of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga football players.

The market is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Tennessee Pavilion.
