Engineered Floors of Dalton agrees to purchase Beaulieu Group

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) The shakeup in the old carpet industry of North Georgia continues.

Dalton-based Engineered Floors announces that they plan to acquire the Beaulieu Group.

Beaulieu filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in July and cut 170 jobs.

The Beaulieu Group was once the third largest carpet company in America, with 2,500 workers scattered across a dozen plants in northwest Georgia and Alabama.

But they have recently been passed by Engineered Floors.

The newer company has old ties of it’s own to the regions carpet industry.

Robert Shaw left the company he founded in 2009 to start over with a new emphasis on flooring.

Shaw Industries remains the top carpet and flooring company in the region, but Engineered Floors is coming fast with this purchase.

If the takeover meets government approval, the company expects to close the deal in the fourth quarter of 2017.
