EPB announces new milestone for Quantum network

TYSONS, Va. (WDEF) – EPB announced the latest step in the expansion of their Quantum Network.

In a press conference at the Quantum World Congress, EPB announced there is now the first software defined quantum network.

The software capabilities will be powered by Aliro Quantum, a startup based in Boston that specializes in creating applications to allow companies to use the quantum network.

Essentially, this announcement allows quantum companies easier access into the network.

The Founder and CEO of Aliro Quantum, Jim Ricotta, said, “We know how the classical internet scaled from the basics in labs to what we have today, our vision is to do the same thing for Quantum Networking. So, what we’re doing at EPB with Qubitekk is bringing software defined networking to quantum. Our vision is to bring quantum networking as well as computing and sensing out of the lab and into commercial use.”

Customers of the network will have predetermined settings they’ll have to choose once connected.

EPB is beginning the first sign-ups for the network for interested companies and organizations.
