Erlanger celebrates nurse appreciation week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Erlanger Health System is honoring its nurses for Nurse Appreciation Week.

Nurses got these baskets delivered to them, which are filled with different types of snacks.  They also got cups that read,”world class nurses.”

Jan Keys, chief nursing executive with Erlanger, says this was a good time to speak to nurses to find out why they came to Erlanger and why they are staying. She also says nurses go above and beyond.

“Well, nurses are usually the first to get to their job and the last to leave. And that happens 365 days a year. I think it is important that we take a week out and pause and say thank you for what you do,” Keys said.

At Erlanger there are 1,500 nurses who are at the bedside of patients. The hospital has about 2,300 nurses in total.
