CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Erlanger Children’s Hospital unveiled a new MRI center today for children.

They celebrated the opening of their Pediatric MRI and Outpatient Procedure Center at the Kennedy Outpatient Center.

It is the first of its kind in our region.

The MRI machines and other equipment are decorated in colorful wraps including doughnuts and other sweets.

Erlanger says the facility is designed with state of art care in mind but also to help keep young patients from being scared while expanding operation space for numerous kinds of procedures.

Dr. Haresh Patel, an anesthesiologist at Erlanger, said, “Obviously at Children’s Hospital we’re taking care of all kinds of sick patients. But, to get the dental patients room in there was always challenging.”

Erlanger says this fully completes the Kennedy Outpatient Center.
