DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A former Tunnel Hill Police Officer pleaded guilty on Thursday to taking money from the department.
Scott Reneau pleaded to six counts of Theft by Taking and six counts Violation of Office by a Public Official.
The case involved missing money and weapons that had been seized by the Tunnel Hill Police Department.
The GBI began investigating in March of 2016.
Reneau helped fill that evidence room.
He was a veteran officer known for his confiscations during traffic stops.

Reneau will have to pay back more than $37,000.
Chief Roy Brunson told us after the arrest “He was an interdiction officer, working on the interstate and did a lot of drug interdiction work…and so that put him in contact with money a lot.”
He was sentenced to 15 years, but will only serve five of them in confinement.
