Faith Groups Learn Housing Initiative

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Faith leaders and community development organizations gathered today to learn about the Enterprise Faith-Based Development Initiative’s new technical assistance cohort.

The initiative is designed to help houses of worship and formally affiliated organizations explore affordable housing or mixed-use development opportunities on land they already own.

The program is offered in partnership with the City of Chattanooga, the Maclellan Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, and the Generosity Trust.

Participants learned that selected cohort members receive support over three years, including specialized training, technical assistance, peer learning opportunities, and catalytic grant funding.

The initiative focuses on helping organizations determine whether development is feasible and guiding them through each phase of the process, from early planning to construction and project completion.

Eligible organizations interested in affordable housing or mixed-use development were encouraged to apply for the Chattanooga-based cohort.
