Fallen Five Events This Weekend
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – It’s been almost 2 years since the deadly terror attack that killed 5 service men here in Chattanooga.
The City and county are honoring the “Fallen Five” this Sunday at the “Chattanooga Strong Community Concert.”
“We know what happened that day. It was one of the most important days in our city’s history, but we pulled together and became Chattanooga Strong,” said Mayor Berke.
So strong, The City of Chattanooga and Hamilton are coming together to celebrate the lives of Sergeant Carson Holmquist, Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan, Lance Corporal “Skip” Wells, Staff Sergeant David Wyatt, and Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith at the “Chattanooga Strong Community Concert.”
Mayor Berke states, “We’ve grieved a lot in the course of the last couple of years, and now what we really want to do is have some fun and celebrate the amazing lives that these patriots had. We want a patriotic feel. We want it to honor…Wear your red white and blue.”
The event starts at 5 PM at the Tennessee Riverwalk Hubert Fry Center on Sunday July 16th. There will be a moment of silence, a flyover, live music, and activities for children.
The Chattanooga Heroes Run and Walk also takes place earlier that day. With Registration beginning at 6 am at the Hubert Fry Center and the event starting at 8 am. There will also be a kid’s 1 mile walk and run at 10 am.
And the commemoration of the Fallen 5 doesn’t end there.
On Saturday, the NoogaStrong ride registration kicks off at 8 am at thunder creek Harley Davidson.
With the ride ending at the National Cemetery with a special ceremony at noon.
