Hiker who fell at Falling Water Falls saved by rescuers training nearby

Falling Water Rescue 2

WALDENS RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A training drill turned into the real thing Wednesday on Waldens Ridge.

Sea Cadets and Adult Volunteers (all first responders) were attending a Mountain Rescue Training near Falling Water Falls.

A trail heads to the falls along the bluff.

And as luck would have it, a hiker fell from the trail and was perched on the edge of the cliff.

The training group was nearby so they were the first to respond.

They pulled the 57 year old man from the cliff and then brought him out 3 miles on a wooded trail when an ambulance was waiting.

The victim suffered a punctured lung plus head and neck injuries.
