CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to an apartment fire with entrapment Tuesday night.

It happened just before midnight. Multiple people were trapped by smoke and flames.

One family had small children including a newborn. The fire department used ladders to get them to safety from their balconies.

There were multiple pets trapped inside the blazing building as smoke filled the hallways

Captain Keith Liles with the Chattanooga Fire Department told us “Engine 15 was first on scene. Engine 15 had already thrown a ladder to start getting people off of one balcony. We ended up having three different balconies that had people inside and then there were a couple people that were brought out… basically let out of their apartment on the bottom floors as well.”

Fire Chief Terry Knowles tells us that there were no injuries, and all the pets which were trapped inside escaped unharmed.
