Family Justice Center Opens To Combat Domestic Violence

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-Carol Berz,"Going to be a showcase and its going to be a welcoming place for all sorts of people and it’s also going to be a place where we make a different kind of economic and human impact in our city".>

A passionate Carol Berz explained how the family justice center has been a goal of hers for more than a decade.

The center will represent almost a dozen  organizations including Southern Adventist University, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Chattanooga PD and McKamey all working to help victims of domestic violence.

Mayor Andy Berke,"Look at all the women in this room, one out of three women have experienced some kind of inter-partner violence in our community, Tennessee is 6th out of the 50 states, this is not a place where we want to be near the top".

The center is the 4th to open in the Volunteer State.
Governor Haslam and his team are supporting the drive to combat domestic violence.

Another Family Justice Center opened in Cookeville Wednesday evening.
