Fannin County votes to allow teachers to carry guns

ELLIJAY, Georgia (WDEF) – The Fannin County school board has approved allowing teachers to carry guns in the classroom.

The vote on Thursday night was unanimous.

Teachers will have to be approved and meet the following conditions:

— They must have a weapons-carry license

— They must pass a background check every year

— They must take specific training

— They must have no work history of mental or emotional instability to be determined by the school board or superintendent.

— The superintendent must approve them.

— They must carry it in a holster on them or lock it in secure places that students cannot access.
