Fans fill Finley Stadium despite the rain
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – U.S.A seemed to be the only three letters that mattered Wednesday afternoon, as thousands of fans anxiously stood in line to see the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team go head to head with Costa Rica.
It’s a tournament few ever thought would happen in Finley Stadium.
“It’s awesome,” said 15-year-old soccer lover Jared Moss, “It shows the growth of soccer in America and more specifically in Chattanooga.”
Local high school soccer player, Aanelise Berger, said she and her best friend, Natasha Kohl, were surprised with tickets three months ago for her 15th birthday. “I mean, I’ve never been to this kind of thing before so I’m excited,” said Kohl.
Both teens have been playing for most of their lives, and like so many other excited fans, they’ve been counting down the days to see the U.S. Women’s Team play in person. “I cannot wait to see Alex Morgan,” said Berger, “She’s my idol.”
In the end, U.S. took home the victory with score of 7-2.
