Fatal Motorcycle Wreck in Walker County
It can happen in the blink of an eye.
A Sunday afternoon bike ride in Rossville, Ga. ended suddenly and tragically when a 29-year-old man was killed on his motorcycle after a car struck him.
"Pay attention," said Sergeant Chris Debord of the Georgia State Patrol. "Look. Look good. Don’t just glance. Look."
Those were the sobering words from the sergeant who reported to the scene where David Gosnell, Jr. died after 47-year-old Rhonda Walls struck him with her Chrysler 300 when she attempted to turn left onto Rollings Drive into his path.
"The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Mission Ridge Road," said Debord. "The white Chrysler was traveling southbound on Mission Ridge Road and it turned left in front of the motorcycle."
The accident happened around 3:45 Sunday afternoon.
Walls wasn’t injured.
The accident remains under investigation and charges have not been made at this time.
"This was my son that just passed away," said David Gosnell, Sr. who stood by while debris was cleaned from the road. "Just got killed. About the only thing I really got to say is these people that not paying attention and all these motorcycles, this is serious. I just lost a son. I don’t really know what else to say. He was a good kid. 29 years old. Born and raised right here. Somebody making a wrong turn. Man, you all need to slow down. Look out for these bikes. That’s all I got to say."
