Father of Apalachee High School shooter arrested

WINDER, Ga. (WDEF) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced they have arrested the father of the Apalachee High School shooter.

Colin Gray, age 54, was arrested in connection to the shooting.

He is charged with the follow:

  • 4 Counts of Involuntary Manslaughter
  • 2 Counts of Second Degree Murder
  • 8 Counts of Cruelty to Children

Colin is the father of Colt Gray, who has been arrested in connection to the shooting that happened September 4, 2024.

Both Colin and then 13-year-old Colt, were interviewed by authorities about online posts threatening a school more than a year ago.

There wasn’t enough evidence to warrant an arrest.

Colt has charged as an adult with four counts of felony murder for the deaths of two teachers and two students at Apalachee High School.

Colt is currently being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center.

Colt’s first appearance in court is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2024.
