Fillauer Company Prosthetics Director addresses Chattanooga Engineers Club about R&D expansion
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – A 100-year-old family-owned business headquartered in Chattanooga hopes to help amputees walk more normally, and the new technology means a big boost to the local economy.
Fillauer Company is moving a branch of its operations from California to Amnicola Highway.
The company’s director of prosthetics addressed the Chattanooga Engineer’s Club Monday.
Samuel Hale said more R&D jobs are coming to Chattanooga.
He said, "We’re bringing in quite a few jobs. We’re expanding our capacity that we already had here by about an extra 30%. What it’s going to give us the ability to do is give us the ability to do is to be a lot more competitive globally, to be able to produce a product at a better price."
The high-tech prosthetics unit is working on products including a micro-processing ankle.
