First Responder hit by passing vehicle at crash scene

HALETOWN, Tennessee (WDEF) – A first responder was injured last night after responding to a wreck in Marion County.

The Haletown Fire Department responded to a single vehicle wreck on Highway 41 near Sullivans Landing on the Tennessee River around 8:30 PM.

They had to extricate the driver from the crash and treat him.

After the fire personnel cleared the scene, a tow truck driver was trying to remove the vehicle when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

The tow truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Haletown Volunteer Fire Department posted “Please remember to slow down and give first responders room when passing. And most importantly, stay off your phones. Pictures of a crash are not worth your life or the lives of our first responders.”
