Flea Market Fire blamed on too many extension cords

Fire destroyed the flea market on Waterlevel Highway over the weekend

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – Bradley County Fire Investigators have determined that the cause of the blaze that destroyed the Flea Land Flea Market over the weekend was electrical.

They say the Flea Market overloaded the electrical system by using too many extension cords.

It was a tough fire to battle on Saturday afternoon.

The heat caused 10 firefighters to suffer heat exhaustion.

The Flea Market also had propane tanks and fireworks for this year’s 4th of July show.

It was all a total loss.

Investigators have now returned the property back to the owner and no further investigation will be needed.
