Fleischmann for punishment on government leaks
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Tennessee Congressman Chuck Fleischmann says people who leak classified information need to be punished.
He’s not the only one that feels that way.
The nation’s top law enforcement official is vowing to crackdown on government leaks. Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he will investigate, and bring criminals to justice.
That comes after transcripts were published this week of the President’s calls with the leaders of Mexico and Australia.
Congressman Fleischmann says classified information should be held as sacred.
“I’m always concerned any time there are leaks. Let’s face it, I have been given confidential, highly classified briefings as a member of Congress, just like the President has. You just don’t talk about it. You can’t talk about it. The fact that there are leaks out there is a problem, and I’m glad to see Republicans and Democrats working to combat these leaks.”
Congressman Fleischmann also met with Vice President Mike Pence this week. Fleischmann invited the Vice President to come and visit Chattanooga.
