Flight from Atlanta forced to turn around after CHA closed early
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Flight from Atlanta forced to turn around after Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport closed early.
A woman posted on the airports facebook page that her plane was on schedule.
They were getting ready to land at 12:20 am Friday when the pilot came on the intercom and said “The Chattanooga Airport is supposed to close at 12:30, our flight is on schedule but it looks like everyone decided to close early and go home.”
She says the pilot told them that no one was answering the phone.
That’s when the airplane was forced to turn around and go back to Atlanta because they didn’t have enough fuel to circle around.
The woman posted that she felt it was “really inexcusable” and she felt stranded in Atlanta.
The airport sent us a statement saying:
“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oversees and manages the runway lighting system at the airport. Last night, there was an internal miscommunications within that agency, which resulted in the lights being turned off too early. However, we have had a discussion with agency’s management, and we are satisfied this will not happen again. We regret any inconvenience for our passengers, and although delayed, we are glad they were able to land in Chattanooga later in the evening.”
The flight came back around 1:45 am Friday.
