Flu now closing schools west of Chattanooga

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – The flu outbreak is now shutting down school systems around the Cumberland Plateau.

Grundy County will close schools for the rest of the week.

Students were already scheduled off for a professional development day Friday (now cancelled), and Monday is a holiday.

The school system will use the long weekend to disinfect school buses and classrooms.

As a result, 5th & 6th grade & Junior Pro basketball games this weekend are also cancelled.

But the High School district basketball games will be played.

MANCHESTER, Tennessee (WDEF) – Then on the other side of the plateau, Coffee County schools are also closing for the flu.

They will be closed the rest of the week, along with the Presidents Day vacation on Monday.

Both school systems will return on Tuesday.
