Food City collects over $2 million for flood victims

Check presented from Food City to United Ways of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee / Food City
NORTHEAST, Tenn. (WDEF) — Food City and the Eastman Foundation presented a check worth $2,131,703.37 to the United Ways of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee for flood victims.
Food City held a fundraiser from October 1 to October 12, giving customers the chance to donate at checkout.
$833,023.37 was raised from the checkout donations.
Food City and the Eastman Foundation each pledged $100,000 toward the cause.
$1,098,680.00 was also given to Food City through their vendor partners.
All funds raised and collected are going straight to United Ways of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia disaster relief funds.
