Forgotten Child Fund warns of telephone scam

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) –     While it’s the season for giving, sadly it’s also the season for scams.
The Forgotten Child Fund issued a warning about a scam using its name.
The Chattanooga Fire Department reported today someone is asking for donations over the phone for the Forgotten Child Fund.
    But this is a scam.
Clay Ingle of the Forgotten Child Fund explained, "Running a scam is bad, you know, you’re taking away from somebody.  but when you’re doing it at Christmas, you’re not just taking it away from somebody, you’re taking away from somebody that’s probably not going to get anything if that money goes somewhere else.  it’s just horrible.  But please understand people, if you get called on this, don’t give them money."
You can still donate toys or money to the Forgotten Child Fund, drop them off at any Hamilton County fire or EMS station.
    Or donate online here.
