Forgotten Child Fund Wraps Up Final Toy Drive of the Season
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)-The spirit of giving was on full display across Chattanooga today as the Forgotten Child Fund wrapped up its final toy drive of the Christmas season.
Volunteers and first responders spent the day outside several Chattanooga-area Walmart locations, collecting toys and monetary donations to help make Christmas brighter for local children and families in need.
In Hixson, members of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office joined the effort, encouraging shoppers to donate while helping fuel a friendly competition between collection sites across the county.
Mark McMahon with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said the presence of uniformed officers was meant to show community support and raise awareness for the cause.
“We’re really just here for a visible presence—to show that we’re here in uniform to collect the toys and the money for them,” McMahon said.
Organizers say every toy collected during the drive will go directly to children and families across the greater Chattanooga area, helping ensure more kids experience the joy of Christmas this holiday season.
The Forgotten Child Fund says the success of the annual toy drive is made possible by the generosity of the community and the support of volunteers who show up year after year.
