Former Cumberland County Correction Officer Indicted on Theft & Misconduct Charges

Cookeville, TN (WDEF) TBI officials say former Cumberland County Correction Officer William Ashley was indicted on charges of theft and official misconduct.

The TBI began investigating a report of missing cash from an inmate’s property at the jail in January.

Ashley was still a correction officer at that time.

TBI officials found that Ashley was responsible for the theft, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office terminated him.

Ashley was indicted on charges Monday, and turned himself in to the jail.

He was released on a $5,000 bond.
